2009 NFL Draft Update: J-E-T-S Pull the Trigger

The first big move of the 2009 NFL draft was just pulled off by the New York Jets.
The Jets just made a trade with the Cleveland Browns to get Mark Sanchez with the 5th overall pick. Prior to this the Jets had a bit of a question mark at the quarterback position. Kellen Clemens and Brett Raitliff were competing for the starting job. I personally did not have a problem with either on of them. However, the Jets coaching staff had apparently fell in love with Sanchez in pre-draft workouts.
Sanchez who was the starter for the USC Trojans had a phenomenal season last year. Since Joe Namath back in the 1960s and 70s the Jets have not had a great quarterback. Time will tell if it all works out.
Here are the trade details. The Jets made out on this deal. They did not have to give up that much to get a possible 15 year starter/top NFL quarterback.
