Former CIA Director Says Torture Does Not Work
The CIA inspector general in 2004 found that there was no conclusive proof that waterboarding or other harsh interrogation techniques helped the Bush administration thwart any "specific imminent attacks," according to recently declassified Justice Department memos. That undercuts assertions by former vice president Dick Cheney and other former Bush administration officials that the use of harsh interrogation tactics including waterboarding, which is widely considered torture, was justified because it headed off terrorist attacks.
Recently Dick has been running, or as fast as his weakened and black heart can take him, to any interviewer or reporter that will listen. He has been demanding the release of memos he claims show torture worked. I find it very intriguing the Dark Overlord has been pushing for government transparency all of a sudden. This from a man who initially stonewalled the story about him shooting an old man in the face.
The CIA Inspector General's statement that torture does not work would normally be enough to quite those who would say otherwise. Unfortunately, I do not forsee the right wing noise machine changing their tune anytime in the near future. They appear to enjoy defending torture and war crimes far too much. As far as Cheney making his repeated claims, I have a strong hunch it is out of pure self-interest. A preemptive move to try and murky the waters and stop any investigation before it starts. Cheney is a criminal after all and any prosecutor would have him dead to rights.
Stop being a dick and go away already. To jail preferably.

I don't think that it is practical for most situations, but I would never say that you could rule it out. When it comes to keeping our country safe there is not much that you can rule out. With the heightened likelihood for terrorist threats these days sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire.

Whatever art form you're working in, it's crucial to see it clearly, to feel it clearly, and not to worry about the results, or how someone else will see it.
