If the Republicans want to try and Filibuster everything under the sun that's their choice. What pisses me off is that where is the FIGHT from the Democrats. I have barely heard a peep out of Obama supporting any of the legislation that was killed this week. He hasn't made strong statements calling for his nominees to be confirmed. Again, he is the President, use the power that comes with it. They also struggled with the confirmation of one of Obama’s Justice Department picks, witnessed the adoption of an amendment allowing guns inside national parks and suffered major pushback against Obama’s plans to close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay.
And with contentious fights over health care, climate change and Obama’s first Supreme Court pick ahead, some Democratic senators are now convinced that they can’t wade into some of the hot-button social issues their supporters would like them to pursue.“They should not take anything for granted,” said Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who as majority whip has the job of counting votes. “People keep saying, ‘Wow, if you get Sen. Franken up in Minnesota, everything is going to be fine — you’ll be at 60.’ I’ve never said that, I know, because I face these senators every day, and I know that each of them has their own mind.”
As for the Congressional Democrats...Jesus. The Blue Dogs sell the party out at every opportunity, Pelosi is in 100% spin mode with this CIA clusterfuck and Harry Reid continues to turn my stomach into knots by never fighting back against the Republicans in the Senate. Hey Harry, Mitch McConnell is beating you. That saggy faced idiot is kicking your ass. They want to play procedural games, fine. Make them occupy the Senate floor 24 hours a day. They Filibuster something, put it right back up for vote the next day. Make them actually defend their backwards view of things. Don't just shrug your shoulders and move on.
In short, why are any of you in politics. I hope it is to improve people's lives. So stop being spineless cowards and fight for something. Now.
