CONTEST!!! WIN $10 OR A $20 STARBUCKS CARD! Name The Professional Sports Team With The Most Championships.
Since the Milwaukee Brewers have been there since the beginning of last week, I would like to say "congratulations" to the New York Yankees on joining the 20-win Club in Major League Baseball as of yesterday's extra-inning ballgame against the Minnesota Twins (their second walk-off extra-inning game in as many days). The Yankees had to reach 20 wins eventually; after all, with a payroll as large as some federal agencies I suppose it was inevitable (maybe they will take over the division lead, as the Brewers have done since Friday).
I sound as if I'm rubbing Milwaukee's win total in the face of non-Brewers fans, right? Well, that's precisely how some Yankees fans treat non-Yankee fans: rub the amount of championships the Yankees won in the faces of everybody they encounter.
In response to that, I have decided to create the VERY FIRST CONTEST on Yelling at the Moon.
Here's how this works: (Contest Rules will follow this section)
Be the FIRST person to correctly tell us THE PROFESSIONAL SPORTS TEAM WITH THE MOST CHAMPIONSHIPS and you will win either $10 American OR a $20 Starbucks gift card (if you've been reading my updated blog entry about the economy, well, that's why I have it; frivolous spending keeps capitalism chugging!).
Be the SECOND person to correctly guess THE PROFESSIONAL SPORTS TEAM WITH THE MOST CHAMPIONSHIPS and win the prize the first winner didn't choose.
Be the THIRD person to correctly answer THE PROFESSIONAL SPORTS TEAM WITH THE MOST CHAMPIONSHIPS and win the cash value of my can and bottle returns (currently at $3.45 and rising until there is a third-place winner) rounded up to the nearest whole dollar.
Be the FOURTH winner and receive my transit card from Chicago's CTA as well as the remaining two or three tickets from the "Citypass" of Chicago. Both are valid,
Be an obnoxious individual and leave nasty comments and you will receive a handful of my mate-less, mismatched socks from the laundry.
Here are the RULES:
1. Only 1 (one) winner per home address (household), even if you both know the answer. Split the prize. Share. This is to prevent cheating.
2. Winning responses will be determined chronologically. Be aware that Matt and I can view the comments and responses (and the correct answers from across the nation), and we can see the timestamp from each one. The winners will be the ones who answer the question from the minute this article is posted until the fourth place winner posts his/her answer
Good luck, and if this entry category grows in popularity, hopefully we can have more contests with more winners. But it all depends on YOU, the loyal reader, how well this is received, and how accurately the rules are followed by the participants. After all, it makes it very, very hard to locate a winner via the internet if none of the required information is presented to us.

The only reason I went to college was to play basketball. I injured my knee and couldn't play.
