Punishment To Fit The Crime?
Most of us are familiar with Michael Vick's legal situation as a result of being a moron and staging dogfights at his home in Virginia. It should be noted that he earned roughly $3,000 per night that he held fights. However, he also had to buy dogs and other items to keep up this habit. However, perhaps his associates ran the fights in his absence, or, perhaps, even ran the operation without his knowledge. Seems likely, until one realizes that Vick was a licensed dog breeder in Virginia and purchased the now-infamous property for over $30,000.
He has since been found guilty of the charges against him, sentenced to prison, served his time, and now must finish out his sentence with home confinement and find work in a place that doesn't involve as much public scrutiny.
Hopefully, his name will be forgotten by all unless as a reminder to all current and future athletes: fame and fortune can't beat Justice.
Let's hope that this will be the motto for another trial involving another former professional athlete. Jim Leyritz was involved in a fatal drunk-driving accident earlier in the year, resulting in the death of a Florida woman.
It will be interesting to note the punishment Jim Leyritz receives (if any) in comparison. Let's hope that they make as much of an example of him as they did for Vick.

It is a real shame that this tremendous athlete could do such horrible things. These guys get paid millions of dollars; they are role models for so many kids, and they still can't be happy with that. They have to push their luck and get in involved in illegal activities. This guy deserves everything he has coming to him.
