It has been very difficult for Me to get a handle on my emotions and thoughts regarding the events in Iran. And that is a direct result of the lack of credible information I/we are privy to. Much like the events in China, when a 'news' blackout occurs, verifiable accounts fly away and we are slaves to those with agandas on both sides of the conflict. The only story listed here that I CAN comment on is the Kent State shootings which happened when I was 17 or so.That happened for all of US to see and was a stunning event for Me. Kent State was the high water mark for protests in this country. It had a chilling effect that lasts even now.Face it- Getting shot for a cause is something no American is willing to risk. Not stolen elections. Not eroding of rights. Not wars for profit. NOTHING. We send other people's kids to get shot so We can live like Kings compared to the rest of Humanity. I admire the Iranian's courage,BUT just like China,The State demonizes the protesters, the heavy hand is lowered and dissent is crushed. This will only result in sorrow and lost ideals. The only way the former Soviet states overthrew their masters was by active participation of the military. And most of those ststes are worse now, than under the Soviets. The Republican Guard will never turn against the Mullahs and will crush this dissent. It is a reality that must be accepted from our viewpoint. While the Iranian people have political supression from their rulers, they live a good life compared to billions around the globe.I'm not condoning the Mullas' rule. I am saying all we can do is watch.
